Itinerary

Program 1 (Half day):

  • Bat Trang: Our guide will pick up at Hanoi Old Quarter and transfer to the riverside village of Bat Trang where distinctive ceramics are made and used throughout the delta region for over 500 years. The vitality of this village is still blown up by the hundreds of pottery kilns on fire day and night.
  • We stroll around various cottage industries and watch craftsmen forming, painting and glazing their products in traditional ways. Tour ends at your hotel.

Program 2 (6 hours):

  • Van Phuc silk village, a great place to silk cloth through producing on the loom .There is a showroom where you can buy silk by the meter which is much more exciting than buying it in the shops!
  • Continue to visit Tram pagoda & Tram Gian pagodas. Tour ends at your hotel.

Program 3: Bat Trang - an old pottery village, Dong Ho - a painting village

  • In Dong Ho Village, they make Giay do paper and paint them with traditional designs. The paper is handmade and some are still in the traditional way with all natural products.
  • Your trip will continue with a pagoda, But Thap and a carpentry village, Dong Ky. In Don Ky, they made furniture inlaid with mother of pearl and finished off with layer of clear lacquer. In laying the mother of pearl is highly labor intensive. You’ll see how it is delicately sawed into fine fish-bone sliver and paints takingly set into wood. Tour ends at your hotel.

Program 4: Thay (Master Pagoda) & Tay Phuong Pagoda.

  • Our car will pick you up at 8.30 or 13.30. We shall enjoy a pleasant drive through the countryside villages near Hanoi to visit Thay Pagoda, which represents a beautiful legend about the origin of the water puppet arts.
  • Afterwards we will visit Tay Phuong Pagoda, home to 80 wooden statues of various shape and sizes of Buddist Arhats. On the way back to the hotel, you will have a chance to visit a famous traditional silk trade village – the Van Phuc village. Tour ends at your hotel.
