Quan Lan is a beautiful island, which lies within the area of Bai Tu Long Bay. The island covers a total area of about 11 square kilometers with eight populated hamlets. The island features high mountains which lie to the east, functioning as the protection screen for the villages. Quan Lan Island is located on an important navigation route that connects China, Japan, Thailand, and Philippines to Vietnam.

The island boasts ten kilometers of sandy beaches, which is the endless resource for producing glass as well as a great tourist attraction.

In the past, Quan Lan was once the center of the ancient commercial port of Van Don, which developed prosperously at that time. Today, there are still many vestiges linked to the former commercial port of Van Don.

Visitors traveling to Quan Lan Island can take time to visit the large pagodas and archaeological sites, which recall the prosperous life of Quan Lan’s locals in the past. Besides, there is a must-visit destination – Quan lan Communal House, which is constructed in the 18^th century; exceedingly beautiful and almost entirely preserved. Next to the communal house is Quan Lan pagoda (Linh Quang Tu), which is dedicated to Buddha and Goddess Lieu Hanh. Another attraction nearby is Nghe Quan Lạn (Ðức Ông) Shrine, which is dedicated to Phạm Công Chinh, a local man to participate in the historical Van Don battle against the Yuan invaders. He was later honored as a god.

Quan Lan Island has many valuable sea products such as octopuses, butterfish, mackerel, holothurians, shrimp, and sai sung.
