This Ba Be – Cao Bang – Ban Gioc Waterfall Majestic 4-day Tour is specially designed for those who want to discover the beauty of the northeast of Vietnam from Hanoi, particularly Ba Be Lake and Ban Gioc Waterfall. While Ba Be Lake is well-known for an over 50-hectare freshwater lake in the altitude of 145m above the sea level created by the confluence of three river tributaries after earthquakes tens of millions of years ago, Ban Gioc – the world’s fourth biggest border-crossing waterfalls is attractive for its picturesque painting of blue sky, great limestone mountains and stunning rice fields together with the daily life. Many photo opportunities and chances to connect with local people are waiting for you.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1
Hanoi - Ba Be Lake (L/D)
Our guide and driver will pick you up early at your hotel in Hanoi then take a drive on a 250-kilometer (155 miles) journey to Ba Be National Park. On the way you will have several scheduled stops for lunch and visiting Tay ethnic minority community, the second largest ethnic group in Vietnam after the Kinh, and mostly living by rice cultivation.
Arriving in Ba Be National Park, you will start a boat trip along Nang River to discover Ba Be Lake, Puong Grotto, the rapids of the Dau Dang Waterfall and tiny Widow Island. These poetic landscapes will bring you relaxing time with fresh air and green environment, so don’t forget your camera for nice photos.
In the afternoon, we will arrive to the stilt houses of the Tay community in local Village and also spend your night in a home-stay in the village.
Day 2
Ba Be National Park - Hua Ma cave – Phia Thap (B/L/D)
After breakfast at the host family, we will take a short walk visit Hua Ma, a huge grotto with thousands of stalactites. We will then depart for Cao Bang City and you will have lunch and break time on the way to Cao Bang, frontier town which is inhabited mostly by the Nung ethnic minority people. They still retain their centuries old cultural traditions and are recognizably distinct from each other by their dress. You will visit Phia Thap village which is well known for its incense making tradition. You will enjoy the incense show for about 30 minutes to know how to produce the incense. Then you will climb up the mountain (not so high, easy walk) to have overview of the mountainous area and have nice picture. After climbing the mountain, we will come back the homestay and stay overnight in Phia Thap
Day 3
Phia Thap – Than Giap village - Hiking at Nguom Ngao Cave – Overnight at Saigon Ban Gioc (B, L, D)
After breakfast, we start visiting from Phia thap to Than Giap village. You will hike around the village to see local life. You will have break time at water fall behind the village, lunch will be served at homestay. Continuing the trip will lead you enter the new rugged gate of Nguom Ngao Cave. The untouched spectacular darkness inside the cave takes you along the little stream and forces you climbing up the cliffs beside this stream to pass. The crazy path ever but exciting gets over all of the challenges and listened to itsinteresting legends willimmerse you in the dark and light cave then the driver will take you to Ban Gioc waterfall, which is closed to Vietnam’s northern border with China.
On the way to Ban Gioc Waterfall, you will see many terraced rice paddies dotted with some houses creating a peaceful and poetic landscape. Arrive at Ban Gioc, overnight in Sai Gon – Ban Gioc resort
Day 4
Ban Gioc - Hanoi (B/L)
On the next day, you will marvel at Ban Gioc Waterfall’s spectacular beauty, which deserves to be the Vietnam’s most beautiful waterfall. After spending some time relaxing and taking nice photos, you have an opportunity to raft nearly the fall and feel the water blob wind to your face.
Then on the way transferring back to Hanoi, you will enjoy the charming sceneries deeply reflecting the Northwest colour: stunning limestone peaks, long-lasting lush paddy fields and untouched peaceful villages. To satisfy your desire of discovering, we will stop at an ethnic village known for its tobacco production, where you can not only learn more about the daily life of the locals but also enjoy the peace and tranquility. There is a stop for lunch before getting back to Hanoi city and ending the trip.
