Bánh chuối nướng is a Vietnamese baked banana cake. Bananas are very common in Vietnam, which makes this one of the most likely desserts you’ll come across, and if you like bananas it’s a good one to try. It takes three steps: marinate the bananas, soak the sandwich in coconut milk, then bake everything together. Time: the bananas marinate for about 2 hours, and the cake bakes for about 45 minutes (no more than 1 hour). Ingredients 1 bunch of bananas (about 1.5 kg) 1 can of condensed milk 1.5 cups of sugar 500 ml coconut milk 750 ml warm water 1 sandwich Wine or beer (the step uses 50 ml of whisky or rum) How to make bánh chuối nướng 1. Marinate the bananas Peel the bananas, then slice each one lengthwise into 3 parts. Marinate them with ½ cup sugar and 50 ml of wine (whisky or rum). Mix gently so the bananas don’t break, and leave them for about 2 hours. 2. Soak the sandwich in coconut milk While the bananas marinate, put the sandwich, coconut milk, sugar and water into a clean pan. Mix them until the sandwich swells. 3. Bake Add the bananas, together with their marinating liquid, to the pan with the sandwich and coconut milk mixture. Bake in the oven at 150 degrees for about 45 minutes. The cake gets better the longer it bakes, but don’t bake it for more than 1 hour. The cake is then ready to serve. You can keep it in the fridge for about 7 days. Share:
