  • 500 g chicken meat (no bone)
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Soy sauce
  • Spices: salt, sugar, pepper

How to make gà om xì dầu

1. Prepare the chicken and onion

2. Fry the chicken in butter

This is the first important step. Put a pan on the stove and wait until it’s hot, then add the butter and let it melt. Add the chopped chicken and fry until both sides turn golden. Add a little salt to the chicken.

3. Simmer with half the onion

Add half of the sliced onion, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, ½ teaspoon sugar and ½ bowl of water. Cover the pan and simmer the chicken over low heat for about 10 minutes.

4. Add the rest of the onion

Open the lid, stir well, add the remaining half of the onion and season again to suit your taste. Simmer for a few minutes, then turn off the heat.

Eat it with boiled rice.
