Thịt bò xiên nướng, grilled beef BBQ, is a good choice for an outdoor party with family and friends. Cubes of beef are grilled on sticks with onion and bell pepper, so their flavours come together. Eating it around a fire on the beach is perfect.

Plan ahead: the beef marinates for 5–6 hours, and the wood sticks soak for 30 minutes.

    Ingredients

    • 600 g beef meat
    • ½ yellow bell pepper
    • ½ red bell pepper
    • ½ big onion
    • Salt, oyster sauce, sesame oil, honey, sugar, garlic, shallot, soya sauce
    • Wood sticks for grilling

How to make thịt bò xiên nướng

    1. Marinate the beef

Clean the beef, pound it gently with the knife and put it in the fridge for 5–8 minutes. Then cut it into small cubes.

Marinate the cubes with 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon oyster sauce, 1 teaspoon sesame oil, 2 teaspoons honey, 1 teaspoon sugar, 1 teaspoon soya sauce and minced garlic and shallot. Mix well and wait for 5–6 hours. This is the important step that gives the dish its flavour.

Soak the wood sticks in cold water for 30 minutes. Then thread the beef cubes onto them with the sliced onion and bell pepper.

    4. Grill

Put all the BBQ sticks in the oven. Every so often, brush the top with the marinade left from the beef in step 1.

Eat it while it’s hot. Salad, cucumber, tomatoes, chili sauce and ketchup go well on the side.
