    Ingredients

    • About 300 g chicken breast
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 shallot (purple onion), chopped
    • 1 teaspoon fish sauce
    • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil, plus oil for frying
    • 1 bit of ground pepper, plus more to finish
    • 1 small carrot, cut into cubes
    • 2 passion fruits, pressed for their juice
    • 1 tablespoon sugar
    • 50 ml water
    • Maggi seasoning, salt and sugar, to taste
    Halved passion fruits

How to make gà sốt chanh dây

    1. Marinate the chicken

Cut the chicken into thin, long pieces. Marinate it with the garlic, shallot, fish sauce, 1 teaspoon of oil and the pepper for about 20–30 minutes.

    2. Fry the chicken and mix the sauce

Put a pan on the stove, add vegetable oil and fry the chicken until cooked, about 10 minutes.

While it fries, stir the passion fruit juice together with the sugar and water.

    3. Add the carrot and passion fruit

This is the step to get right. Wait until the chicken has turned golden, then add the carrot and the passion fruit mixture. Cook until the carrot is soft.

    4. Season

Season with Maggi, salt and sugar to taste, and sprinkle over some pepper. Serve with steamed rice.
