Bustling Hanoi offers a charming blend of new and old. Admire beautiful French-styled buildings, sample Hanoi’s unique cuisine, soak up the abundance of culture and history on offer in the compelling sites and monuments of the city. 

Locally known as “Halong Bay on land”, Ninh Binh, the UNESCO-protected site, is the next destination in the itinerary where you can witness magical riverine landscape, with sheer limestone mountains rising up from the paddies. 

Head to Halong Bay, a coastal city where you can experience diverse natural landscapes, from long white sandy beaches to thousand-year-old-lime-karst.

Detailed Itinerary Hanoi – Ninh Binh – Halong Tour

DAY 1
Hanoi City Tour (-/L/-)
08:00 – 08:30: Our tour guide and bus will pick you up from your hotel to start discovering Hanoi City.
08:45: Visit the Ho Chi Minh Complex, the final resting place of Vietnam’s great leader, Uncle Ho. You will have the chance to see the embalmed body of Ho Chi Minh, then walk around the garden to visit the two houses where he lived and worked from 1954 to 1969.
Next, visit the One Pillar Pagoda, which worships the Goddess of Mercy. It is considered the most unique pagoda in the world.
Note: Please dress modestly (covering shoulders to knees) when visiting the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, temples, and pagodas.
Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum is closed on Mondays and Fridays, but you can still take pictures of the exterior and explore the surrounding area.
The Mausoleum is also closed from June 15th to August 15th for annual maintenance.
10:15: Visit the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology to learn about the culture of Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups.
Special Note: On Mondays, the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology is closed, and we will visit the Vietnamese Women’s Museum instead.
12:00: Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
13:30: Visit Tran Quoc Pagoda, located on Golden Fish Island in West Lake. This is the oldest pagoda in Hanoi, built in the 6th century.
14:30: Continue to the Temple of Literature – Vietnam’s first university, founded in 1070. It remains one of the most attractive tourist spots in Northern Vietnam.
15:30: Visit Hoa Lo Prison, built by the French between 1886 and 1901 during the period of French Indochina. Known as Maison Centrale by the French, the prison was dubbed “Hell on Earth” and is now a war museum that offers insight into Vietnam’s struggle against French colonial rule.
16:30: Return to your hotel in Hanoi by bus.
DAY 2
Hanoi - Ninh Binh (B/L/-)
07:30 – 08:00: Get picked up by our friendly guide and depart for Ninh Binh province.
09:15: Take a short 15-20 minute break to relax.
10:30: Visit Bai Dinh Pagoda, the largest and most famous pagoda in Southeast Asia, known for its many records, including 500 stone Arhat statues, a 36-ton bronze bell, and a 100-ton Buddha statue.
12:30: Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
13:30: Visit Trang An, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 2014. Trang An features a stunning tunnel cave system and was chosen as a filming location for the 2016 movie Kong: Skull Island. A 2.5-hour boat trip will allow you to fully appreciate the breathtaking scenery.
16:30: Board the bus to return to Hanoi.
18:30 – 19:00: Arrive back in Hanoi and get dropped off at your hotel in the Old Quarter.
Day 3
Hanoi - Halong Bay (B/L/D)
08:00 – 08:30: Depart Hanoi for Halong International Cruise Port in Bai Chay Town, Halong City. Refresh at the lounge upon arrival.
12:00 – 12:30: Embark on the Oriental Sails cruise. Enjoy a welcome drink and a brief introduction to the cruise and safety guidelines. Check into your cabin.
13:15: Savor lunch while cruising through the magnificent Halong Bay, admiring its natural beauty before anchoring near Titop Island.
15:00 – 16:00: Join a guided visit to Sung Sot Cave (Amazing Cave), one of the largest and most beautiful caves in Halong Bay.
16:00 – 17:00: Climb to the peak of Titop Island for a panoramic view of the bay. Afterward, relax on the beach and swim in the crystal-clear water.
17:20: Return to the Oriental Sails to relax and enjoy the sunset with happy hour at the bar.
18:00: Take advantage of happy hour discounts on various drinks. Participate in a cooking demonstration with our chef.
19:00 – 21:00: Enjoy a delicious dinner onboard. Private dinners are available upon request.
21:00 – 22:00: Free time to try squid fishing with the crew, sing karaoke, or simply relax in your cabin. Overnight on Oriental Sails.
DAY 4
Halong Bay - Hanoi (B/L/- )
06:30: Welcome the new day with a breathtaking sunrise over the legendary Gulf of Tonkin. Refresh your mind and body with a Tai Chi session on the sundeck.
07:00 – 08:00: Enjoy morning views of the seascape with a cup of tea or coffee, followed by breakfast while cruising through the stunning karst formations.
08:00 – 09:00: Join a guided exploration of Luon Cave. You can share a sampan with other tourists and a local rower or choose to kayak on your own.
09:00: Return to the Oriental Sails for a shower and relaxation.
09:30: Check out of your room as the Oriental Sails continues its picturesque route towards Bai Chay Bridge for photo opportunities.
10:50: Enjoy lunch onboard.
11:30 – 11:45: Disembark at the port.
Our driver will pick you up from the harbor and transfer you back to Hanoi.

Children Policy

  • Children from 1-4 years old are free (parents take care of all expenses for children, do not occupy seats in the car). 02 adults can bring for free with 1 child. From the 2nd child and above, the fee is 75% of the tour price.
  • If 01 adult is accompanied by 01 child from 1-4 years old, the child must buy 50% of the adult’s tour price (enjoy the service like children 5-9 years old).
  • Children from 5-9 years old pay 75% of tour price. It included separate meals, separate seat in private cars but must sleep with parents). 02 charged children also do not have their own bed.
  • Children 10 years and older are counted as adults.
