Detailed Itinerary

Welcome to the Hue Imperial City from Chan May Port Full Day Tour!

08:00 We will depart from the port for Hue, to explore the Imperial City Citadel, the prime attraction of this historic city. The citadel was built between 1804-1833 during the Nguyen Dynasty, the last imperial dynasty to rule Vietnam. Surrounded by 2 km of walls and a moat, the grounds contain the Purple Forbidden City, temples, gates, gardens and more. Wander through this ancient complex and imagine life here during feudal, imperial times.

After lunch, we’ll take a boat trip on the scenic Perfume River to visit Thien Mu Pagoda, an active Buddhist temple dating back to 1601. Here you can see a car that belonged to a monk who, in 1963, drove to Saigon and set himself on fire to protest the cruel treatment of Buddhists. This dramatic event is an important part of Thien Mu Pagoda’s history.

We finally visit the serene Khai Dinh Royal Tomb, designed to blend in with its natural surroundings and built on principles of feng-shui.

16:00 Our driver takes you back to Chan May Port, drops you off at around 17:30.
