Ingredients

  • 200 g squid
  • 1 chicken egg
  • 3 coffee spoons of wheat flour
  • 3 coffee spoons of bread crumbs
  • Salt, Maggi seasoning, cooking oil, chilli sauce and cucumber

How to make mực chiên giòn

1. Cut and marinate the squid

Cut the squid into pieces. If you have the head, cut that up too so it’s easier to fry. Marinate with ½ spoon of Maggi seasoning and some salt.

2. Set up the coating

Crack the egg into a bowl and mix the yolk with the white. Put the wheat flour and the bread crumbs in separate bowls.

3. Coat the squid

Roll each piece of squid in the wheat flour, then in the egg, then in the bread crumbs.

4. Fry

Heat the pan with lots of cooking oil, add the squid and fry until it turns golden.

Take the squid out and put it on an aluminium basket so the oil drains off. It’s best served while still hot, with chilli sauce and sliced cucumber.
