The Da Nang city 's Culture, Sports and Tourism Department has recently announced that over 107,000 tourists visited Da Nang and Hoi An - the two famous destinations in Central Vietnam - on Christmas and New Year's Day.

A group of 180 passengers flying from Singapore to Da Nang on SilkAir's first flight of 2016 is said to be the first tourist of this year to Da Nang. Many of them traveled to Hoi An ancient town to discover the ancient values and culture of Hoi An. Particularly on New Year's Eve, these tourists had chance to admire a 10-minute firework performance which lit up one of the six most beautiful beaches in the world - My Khe Beach.

In addition, the city's Tien Sa port also handled the first cargo ship, the Mia Schulte ship from Singapore. The port's administration said the key port hosted 6.4 million tonnes of cargo in 2015 – a 6.5 per cent increase year-on-year.

In the UNESCO's World Heritage site of Hoi An, it was reported that Mary Kippenbrok from the US had been recognised as the 1.8 millionth tourist coming to this town on the last day of 2015. On New Year's Day, the tourism hub also hosted the first group of 33 Australian tourists visiting Hoi An. Hoi An hosted 2.1 million visitors in 2015.
