Tourism Year and Hue Festival to open next April

VietNamNet Bridge - The national tourism year 2012 themed “Heritage tourism” will kick off at the opening ceremony of the Hue Festival 2012 in Hue City in Thua Thien – Hue Province on April 4 next year.  

 

The Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Hoang Tuan Anh stated at a conference on June 18 in Hue that the  national tourism year in the North central region of Hue will be an opportunity to promote Vietnamese culture to the world and raise public awareness of the need to preserve ancient cultural heritages.

The North central region has many tangible and intangible cultural heritages such as the Ho Dynasty citadel in Thanh Hoa Province, Phong Nha-Ke Bang in Quang Binh Province, Quang Tri ancient citadel in Quang Tri Province, Hue ancient capital in Thua Thien-Hue Province and traditional and folk music.

The biennial Hue Festival is one of the highlights of the tourism year celebrations which will introduce Vietnamese business and culture, the first national heritage program, a Charming Vietnamese Gala, workshop on International cooperation and the development of over-land tourism with countries along the East–West Economic Corridor, the 2nd International Choir Festival, Tam Giang waterway festival, lantern festival, Buddha’s Birthday Festival, “Impressive Hue rain” program, Hoa Lu ancient capital festival, International Firework Competition, Vietnam cave festival, Lam Kinh Festival and Hoi An ancient night.

The events will be held during the entire year in Hue, cities and provinces in the North central region.
