Summary

Famed throughout Vietnam for the consummate skills of its wood workers, the village of Kim Bong in Cam Kim Commune is reached by a scenic fifteen minute boat ride across the Thu Bon River from Hoi an Ancient Town. Generations of artisans have for centuries produced wooden ships, boats, furniture, sculptures and carvings here and also contributed to the restoration of historic Hoi an and former Imperial capital of Hue. Cycling around Kim Bong village, you will have chance to explore the agricultural and natural waterway sights in the normal life of local farmers, and surrounding landscape of this charming village.

Itinerary

  • Guests are offered 2 options for this tour: In the morning (from 08:00 to 12:00) or in the afternoon (from 13:00 to 17:00)
  • We take a short walk from your hotel in Hoi an to Bach Dang pier.
  • Then a morning transfer via boat brings you to Kim Bong Village where the descendants of four gifted crafting families have been perfecting their skills since the 15th century.
  • You will hop on a bicycle for a guided tour of the village shipbuilding yard, temples, and workshops. Admire the fine craftsmanship practiced at Kim. Your tour also includes a refreshing sample of local seasonal fruits and produce.
  • Transfer back to Hoi an ancient town by boat, end of this tour.
