Summary

On this trip you will trek along Muong Hoa River sneaking through a valley nearby Sapa town, which is surrounded by huge rice paddy terraces. On the way you will learn more about how rice is cultivated, from when the rice seedling is transplanted until it is served as steam rice on the dinner table. The night you spend in Ta Van village, the unique village in Sapa area where Giay minority live, will be an excellent experience.

Itinerary

Day 1: Sapa - Y Linh Ho - Ta Van (-,L,D)

  • Pick up at hotel in Sapa.
  • This trip commences with a short walk through the town of Sapa before turning on a footpath running through vegetable gardens. You then descend down the valley on a dirt trail through rice paddy terraces, enjoying the spectacular scenery on the way. Once reaching the narrow river running on the bottom of the valley, you will walk along its bank for a while and eventually arrive at Y Linh Ho village of Black H'mong minority group. Here you take a rest and have lunch nearby the river.
  • After lunch, the walk takes you deeper into Muong Hoa valley. You will pass through Lao Chai village of Black H'mong minority and then Ta Van village of Giay minority by following a popular trekking route. Upon arrival at Ta Van village, the time is yours to take a walk around the village while your guide is preparing the dinner. Stay the night in a local house of Giay people.

Approx: Grade 2 of 5/ 5 hours walking

 

Day 2: Ta Van - Giang Ta Chai - Su Pan - Sapa (B,L,-)

  • Once you have had your breakfast and are ready for the last day trek, you leave Ta Van for Giang Ta Chai village, inhabited by the Red Dao minority on a hilly trail running through rice terraces.
  • Just before reaching the village, you will walk through a bamboo forest, which belongs to Hoang Lien National Park. On the way you pass by a waterfall where you will have time to take a rest and enjoy the surroundings. You have lunch at Giang Ta Chai village.
  • If it is a class day, you will visit a local school and talk to the cute pupils coming from different minorities.
  • You then descend to a suspension bridge, from here you walk up to the main road to get on your vehicle for the transfer back to Sapa.

Approx: Grade 2 of 5/ 30 minutes driving/ 4 hours walking

 

Note: Home stay is comfortable with sufficient toilet facility.
