Long Khanh Pagoda

Quy Nhon City is short of attractions, but the Long Khanh pagoda is worth a visit. The 17m high Buddha is impressive, as is the ‘thousand-eyed and thousand handed’ Goddess of Mercy.

Long Khanh Pagoda is worth a visit in Quy Nhon, Vietnam. It is the main pagoda, located right in the city center. The most impressive feature in the pagoda is the 17m high Budda Statue.  Long Khanh pagoda is built during the 18th century under the reign of Emperor Le Du Tong. During that time, Buddhism was preached there. To the left of the main building is a low tower sheltering a giant drum; its twin on the right contains an enormous bell cast in 1970.

In front of the large copper Thich Ca Buddha (with its multicolored neon halo) is a drawing of multi-armed and multi-eyed Chuan De (the Goddess of Mercy. There is also a colorfully painted Buddha at the edge of the raised platform. In the corridor passing behind the main altar is a bronze bell dated from 1805 which has Chinese inscriptions.
