The coastal province of Ninh Thuan lies in the south of Vietnam, about 1.382km from Hanoi and 350km from Ho Chi Minh City. Ninh Thuan shares its border with Khanh Hoa province on the north, Binh Thuan province on the south and the East Sea on the east. With the strategic location, the province is an important transportation node with the North-South Railway, the 1A and the 27 National Highway. It is also a well-know tourist destination with many beauty spots.
Ninh Thuan is covered by mountains on the north, south and west; the other side of the province face the sea with a long coastline of 105km. Weather in Ninh Thuan is featured by extreme climate condition with much wind, hot and dry atmosphere all year round. Unlike Northern provinces, there is no winter in Ninh Thuan. There are two seasons: dry season from December to August, rainy season from September to November.
Ninh Thuan province is characterized by 28 different ethnic groups, among which Kinh and Cham people accounts for the majority. The special culture of Cham people has added to the cultural diversity of the province. For Cham people, women are more respected and they take responsibility for most family affairs.
