Lang Son is a frontier mountainous province, which is located in the northeast of Vietnam. The province shares its border with Cao Bang province on the south, Bac Giang province on the north, Guangxi (China) on the east, Quang Ninh province on the northeast and with Bac Kan, Thai Nguyen provinces on the west. As a mountainous region, 80% of Lang Son’s area is covered with mountains and hills. With the complex river network, the province has good conditions to develop agriculture. The rivers include: Ky Cung, Ba Thin, Bac Giang, Bac Khe, etc. Lang Son has two international border gates including Dong Dang railway border gate and Huu Nghi road border gate, four national border gates such as Chi Ma (in Loc Binh District) and Binh Nghi (in Trang Dinh District), Tan Thanh (Van Lang District), Coc Nam (Cao Loc District). Thanks to the favorable economic conditions, Lang Son has become a strategic province in the northeast of Vietnam.
Lang Son has great potential not only in developing tourism, but also tourism. The province pride itself on many cultural and historical vestiges namely the Rampart of Mac Dynasty, Doan Citadel Vestige, Chi Lang Defile, Ky Cung and Bac Le temples. Apart from these, Ky Lua Market, To Thi and Mau Son mountains, Tam Thanh, and Nhi Thanh grottoes are also well-known tourist attractions which draw the attention of many tourists every year. Visitors come to Ky Lua and Tam Thanh markets for shopping because most items sold here are abundant and cheap. Besides, tourists can also join in several local festivals such as Ky Lua or Long Tong traditional festivals.
