Getting there

By Air

Vietnam Airline offers three flights daily connecting Hue to both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. It takes one hour and ten minutes for flights between Hue and Hanoi, and it takes and extra ten minutes for flights between Hue and Ho Chi Minh City.

By Bus

Hue is a regular stop on open-tour bus routes. From Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, you can take a bus a station and transfer to Hue.

The main bus station in Hue is 4 kilometers to the southeast of the city, on the continuation of Hung Vuong Street and An Thuy Vuong Street. Another bus station is An Hoa which is located on Highway 1A, to the northwest of the Citadel.

By Car & Motorbike

Besides traveling by air or by bus, there is another option, that’s by car or motorbike. You can travel from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces to Hue easily. Some of the principal destinations from Hue include Hanoi (689km), Dong Ha (77km), Lao Bao (152km), Danang (108km) and HCMC (1097km).

By train

Hue train station is located at No.2 of Phan Chu Trinh Street. From Hue station, there are daily trains to major destinations such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh city, Vinh, Danang, etc.

Getting around

To/From the airport

Hue is served by Phu Bai Airport which is 14km south of the city center. Taxi fares from the Airport to the city center are around $10. You can also ask for car pick up through a travel agency or through your hotel in Hue.

Bicycle, Motorbike & Car hire

Cycling is an interesting way to explore the city of Hue and nearby Royal Tombs. Many hotels offer bicycles for rent at $1 or $2 per day (the price may be higher depending on specific time). Self-drive motorbikes are available from $3 to $10, depending on the model and condition of the bike. A car with driver is available from $30 per day.
